1978 3+3 camper special
I have been nosing around and decided it was time to start a thread about why.
Last month I bought a 1978 C30 Silverado, 3+3 dually. It has a 454 with an auto. Has 100k miles, cold factory R-12 AC, tilt, cruise, after market wiper delay, and a few other extras. I have replaced and repaired several items, including: Oil pan gasket, rear main seal, tranny filter and pan gasket, exhaust manifold, manifold gaskets, oil cooler gaskets, valve cover gaskets, plugs, sway arm bushings, new GM cab light lenses. Still have a list of items to repair or replace. The kids like to take it to get ice cream. Still trying to figure out the axle ratio. |

Quote:
http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs...olet-Truck.pdf 3.73:1 is the standard ratio for C30, 454 with dual rear wheels. If it had an optional ratio that code and description would appear on the SPID label. K

Re: 1978 3+3 camper special
I had a feeling the gear ratio was 3.73. That should be nice if I put a 4l80e in it.
I paid quite a bit less then the asking price. I am thinking about installing a 3/4 drop. |

Re: 1978 3+3 camper special
I have both tanks working now (replaced broken switching valve) found GM replacement cab light lenses, installed my vent shades and found and installed smooth stainless bed rail and tail gate caps. Still looking for a hood ornament and debating wether or not to buy a set of factory hub caps.
Still need to fix the cruise, adjust the rockers, replace the windshield, front carpet, headliner, the list is longer then I realized. |
