Really could use some help on this one!

Is this a normal or a cracked case? Can it be repaired or just replace. Vehicle will make about 420hp

WOW entire housing is cracked? Never seen one that bad.

Definitely NOT repairable.

Housing looks busted, but a local machine shop can magnaflux it if you're in doubt. If it is broken its scrap iron. There's no fixing that.

The control arm shafts look right, but there's no bushings in your photos.

Thought it was done, but the weird thing is that x shaft will not fit no matter what angle I chose

I don't know which truck you are running but it looks to be a 10 or 12 Bolt Axle?!? If you are in the 400 HP range, I'd probably be considering at least a 9.5" SF axle for strength.

What axle do you have? Gear ratio? Truck?

if Michigan metal works is anything like porterbuilt i think they have specific shafts, might want to give them a call, my uca's shafts came with my porterbulilt arms, each company is different

The 8.5 ten bolt will hold a 600hp big block when built. Buick regales are running 8s with them. Pretty much good enough for me

It's a 12 bolt in an 86,now I need to find another axle shell to rebuild. I wasn't worried about if a 12 bolt would hold I know it will just was curious about that power on a crack. I also think the reason the x shafts wouldn't fit is because they are problem solving shafts

I think anything 73-87 should have it as a option.

Re: Really could use some help on this one!

70s trucks typically had 1/ bolts and 80s trucks got the corporate ten.

I think 81 was the last year for the 12 bolt in our trucks.

A 1/2 ton 4x4 rear 12 bolt will work as well; you just have to swap axle shafts.

Re: Really could use some help on this one!

10 bolts are cheap n easy to find. 12 bolt internals fit in them with a little work and are much stronger. The cracked housing is interesting, wheel hop? or speed impact? overloading shouldn't have cracked it that way.
the arms, id go to the company you got them from the replacement part looks like its not going to fit, don't forget the 3/8 inch or so of bushing that also has to fit in the gap.

I have 2 of them if you get back to see your relatives over the holidays & don't find one before then. I used the standard Moog shafts w/o issue so it might be the offset that is causing you trouble.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

You need a girdle! (not your grandma's) Also I would use an older 12 bolt instead of the later one. I've never tore up an older one...
