Front suspension differences
How can I tell what year model the front suspension on my truck came from. It's a 70 model C10 with five lug front and rear suspension parts. I would like to get some dropped spindles but I'm not sure whether to order spindles for 1972 or 1973.

Re: Front suspension differences
Not 100% sure of how to tell since it's already been switched to 5 lug. I know the motor mounts changed to a "clamshell" style in 73, that's if you think the crossmember has been changed.

Re: Front suspension differences
Steel control arm bushings were used on 71-72. Rubber on 73-87.
If you ball joints are original with the uppers being riveted in, that is a definitive way to tell. If they've been changed, it could be anything since 71-72 and 73-87 ball joints will interchange. |

Re: Front suspension differences
The upper ball joint or outer tie rod will tell you what year spindle is on your truck now.
