Bed wood and Parts

Who has ordered their bed wood and bed parts from these guys? I saw them at a show and what I saw was great quality but that doesn't mean what gets shipped to me will be what I saw at the show. They are a bit more money and promise quality. What was the quality you received? Worth the extra money?

Not sure if it's an option for you but have you considered making your own? I did this bed for $157. Northern Red Oak, SPAR varnish x5 coats, sanding between each coat with varying grades of paper. The specs are on GMCPauls website. It's not difficult to do it .. it just takes a LOT of time.

Thanks man! I had to sell the truck unfortunately but I sure learned a lot.

The biggest problem with buying the wood and having it shipped is the freight costs. I just went to a local hardwood place and got mine rough cut to 1" thick and 80" long if I recall the length is 77 1/8 or something like that.. anyway just a little room so I could trim it nicely.

If you have a planer and a table saw its not a big deal. .. actually kinda fun.

I'm going to do some sort of exotic Tiger Maple or something in my 68 project. Not that close yet.


Those polished strips came from Classic in KC too. Nice stuff. BedWood is probably one of the best on the market IMO but they are proud of it.

Yes they are proud of what they sell $$$. The bed you built yourself looks great. I'm sure I could do the milling but no longer have the equipment necessary to do it. At this point I just want to do the finishing and install it. I don't mind paying for quality but I want to be sure I am getting the quality I am paying for.
