6 Cylinder Info?

What to buy and where to buy. I'm looking to get Fenton style headers and an intake setup for my 250. Don't know if I should go with a small 4 barrel or two 1 barrel or two two barrel carbs. Suggestions please. If you have approximate prices that would be great. Thanks.

Start and stop your I6 Performance and Technical Questions and parts acquisitions with Mr Tom Langdon, Stovebolt Engine Company, Utica MI.

Google Stovebolt Engine Co.

Fenton does not make headers for the 250. Tom Langdon makes Cast Iron headers for the 250. Price $277. THE BEST intake is the Clifford Ram Horn intake. It is water heated(almost to simple to hook up the system...pictures in my build thread on how to) and one of the best looking. Price $320. Your easiest option would be a 390 cfm holley. I don't recommend weber because they are a pain in the neck sometimes. Were as you can bolt on a 390 holley and not have to screw with all the tuning and crap that a weber puts you through. Wbers are really expensive anyway. If you have a stock motor than two 2 barrels is waaaay to much carb. But two 1 barrels aren't. Remember 2 1 barrels will not out perform a single 4 barrel.

Re: 6 Cylinder Info?

The weber progressive is easy. Tune it. Under $325ish with jets installed. Last I checked a 390 holly at jegs it was over $400 and still could benefit from jetting. But, choose whatcha like and what ye'll actually work on and it'll run like GREAT.

i have the same setup on one of mine (assuming the ramflow is the same as the ram horn).
looks good, i think, however i'm not convinced the performance is much better than the stock setup - if that's what you are looking for.

Re: 6 Cylinder Info?

cj285,
One sweet 6 you have there! Yeah, I meant to say Ramflow....but yeah you have the same intake I do. Is yours a 250? If so I can agree when you say you didn't notice much of an increase over stock if it is. My 292 pulls better and I can load it full of dirt and take off in 2 gear like nothing, and acceleration in the top end is better, but over all acceleration wasn't a hole lot better, but with the mods I did; I felt an increase in power. but I must say it performs alot better than stock!

Re: 6 Cylinder Info?

it's 250. at the time i didn't have available factory a/c brackets for a 292 so i used a 76 250 block so i could use factory brackets of that vintage. albeit for a r-4

Re: 6 Cylinder Info?

I should have said earlier that my motor is not a stock build. I had them take .010 of the top of the block and .030 off the head. I used flat top pistons and a moderate CompCam. The head is ported and polished, CCd and gasket matched for both intake and exhaust. I have a HEI distributer with a soft advance. By the way you guys have some pretty engins. Hope mine will look that way soon.

Re: 6 Cylinder Info?

Then a bone stock 390 cfm Holley should work just fine. I say Clifford intake $320 and Lagdon's Cast Iron headers.$277 UNLESS you want to pay $340 for the set I have on mine. Clifford Short Tube headers. Made of 16 gauge metal. They don't leak and seal fine with the gasket supplied.
