Lowering our 72

So we are looking to lower our 72 C10 with trailing arm suspension for my son and looking to do it on a budget. Going to run 235/60/15 all around on 8 in ralley wheels. Can I just do a coil spring drop to get it down just above the tires on the wheel well? like a 4/2 drop I want to keep the ride for him. Will I need to change out the shocks too? I see Brothers is having a sale this week so I want to get on it before its over on the 31st.

Thanks

Re: Lowering our 72

3/5 drop is the lowest "spring only" drop.
But to me, they look high in the front.

I would do spindles and cut front coils before I did a spring only drop.
You will need drop shocks.
I also suggest rear shock relocators and an adjustable panhard bar.
4.5/6 is the best all around static drop, in my opinion.

This is 72BlckButy's 4.5/6 drop,...

Yup my PO did only a spring drop, she was sitting on the bump stops and rode like crap. Deffinitly splurge for the drop spindle.

I'm looking at getting a bag/shrader valve setup with a drop spindle

And then when your son has some extra $$$ he can always upgrade the wheels with the same drop.

I have to agree with lolife99. After going with the 4.5/6" drop I have not second guessed that decision. The ride and quality of the parts is second to none.

I have a 3/5 CPP drop. I agree the front is a hair high for my taste. Tires are 215/70/15. so not the tallest tires either. Rides very well though and I haven't compromised anything in my opinion.

The biggest issue with a 3" front spring drop is that when you want to switch to drop spindles in the future, you'll be VERY low.

I have to agree, this is a truck Dad and I put together a while back. Not sure if yours is a fleet or step, but here you go. 235/70 up front, 255/70 in the rear. 3/5 CPP springs. 6 lug truck, all spring drop.

Re: Lowering our 72

Just call them up and ask for a 2" drop spring vs the 1.5" the kit comes with.

Re: Lowering our 72

You'll get a better deal on shipping when you order over the phone.
