Air Helper Bags / Lowered 66C10
Hello. Sorry if this question is redundant, I scoured the search subjects and didn't find anything (although that doesn't mean the info isn't there).
Anyway, I lowered my C10 2.5 spindles with 1" drop spring front and 4" drop springs rear (all from CPP). Looking to augment occasional heavy load capacity and leaning towards air helper springs from AirLift or Firestone. Has anyone done/used this? If so, what items did you use? From my research it appears the bags require end relief (for the valve). How does this sync with the tapered springs? Are there different bag sizes that are best suited for these springs? The Airlift units all seem to be the same size at 10x13x6". If no one has crossed this bridge before, I will and report my results (just checking before I reinvent the wheel, er, air bag - ha). Many thanks! |

Make it easier on yourself bud. Get you some air bags, some fittings, hose and a couple schrader valves and take those springs off.
I had the same set up and replaced my springs just like I described above, I can tow almost anything and it rides a lot nicer. I used 2600 bags, FYI.

Re: Air Helper Bags / Lowered 66C10
how does the setup work with just using Schrader valves, do you have issues getting them to ride right? Also do you have to check or adjust them often, I want air ride but a full auto leveling by accuair is not in the cars right now, I have 3" lowering springs in the rear but need to drop some in the front as its stock spindles and 1" springs. Would you recommend swapping out for 4 airlift dominator bags and brackets and use the valves for now. I don't want it slammed, I just want a nice raked stance for cruising with a nice ride.

I'm with clyde
Take the springs off and replace with 2600 air bags You can use a regulator valve if you want to change ride height manually or get a ride height valve off a semi trailer and it will keep your ride height the same automatic |

I have 2600 bags with the cups ( you dont need the cups if. you want to air the rear out). I have air lines running from each bag to the rear of the truck along the frame with an air "T", then a single schrader valve mounted to the license plate pan for easy fill up or adjustment. I usually run about 45# of pressure. I check it weekly when i check my tires.

so you need both mounting brackets for the front and the rear to mount 4 bags on this. I am thinking of going this way for the time being, anyone have any pics of their setups and how the lines were ran.

I heard it was a bad idea to use an air "T", because the air will just flow from one bag to the other when cornering. Do you run into any problems with that?
