5.3 swap wiring question

do i need to use the big purple wire in the harness to the starter? cant i just use the original starter wiring front the factory harness to start the truck? i am using lt1swap.com while modifying my harness and i haven't read anything on the starter wiring. there is a picture on the site of a finished harness with the big starter wire rolled up and labeled. it has me confused. go easy on me this is my first time doing anything like this.

Re: 5.3 swap wiring question

Just use the original one in your truck, I did the lt1swap.com harness mods as well, and everything turned out great.

Re: 5.3 swap wiring question

I cut the purple wire to the starter inside the cab. Because the harness I got from CPP has a wire that runs into the cab for the ign I just connected it there and then used the purple wire with a fuse for my oil pressure gauge since it was already run through the firewall and in that direction.

Don't quote me on the ign connection inside the cab, but I know for sure I cut it and used it for the pressure gauge.

Re: 5.3 swap wiring question

I added a wire to my harness that goes to the starter and added a weather packed connector and attached it to the factory starter wire on the truck. Basically using the factory stuff just hiding the wire in the harness for a cleaner look.

Re: 5.3 swap wiring question

When my harness came back I hooked the purple wire to the OG ingnition wire for what it's worth.
