crazy ideas for engine swaps!
So today me snd a buddy were roaming the local pivk n pull yard, and they had a 80s masareti bitutbo there, got us discussing wild engine swaps for our minitrucks, and other future projects. Id like to swap the biturbo motor into say a nissan or mazda. I also wanna do a flathead ford in a ranger. What kinda crazy swaps would you do if you could?

4BT Cummins in my 74 Gremlin, or a Audi RS 4.2W/ the 6spd quattro driveline in a early 80's rabbit truck, or a SR20DET in a Morris minor panel wagon. I can do this all night. LOL. I love kind stuff.

Re: crazy ideas for engine swaps!
I put a BB400 Pontiac in a short windowless 73 Econoline van, It was a wild ride......
Also dropped a rebuilt '63 Buick V6 in a 74 Vega GT, These were done back in the 70's..... The good ole days.....

Re: crazy ideas for engine swaps!
A 5.0 Explorer engine in a Volvo? Nah too boring. LOL
I think a STI Subaru set up in the back seat of (you name it-small car) would be cool. Or a big block anything up front with a Vette transaxle out back would be a great muscle car set up. O.K. one more, how about a Ford V10 quad turbo in a suicide door Lincoln?

Re: crazy ideas for engine swaps!
I don't have a picture, but locally there is a 'Smart Car' running around that says (and sounds like) it has a VW diesel in it. Seems funny to hear that diesel tick coming from one those little cars.

Re: crazy ideas for engine swaps!
I know a guy on another forum thats put the running gear from a Mitsubishi Evo under a Ford Fiesta, another guy had an old Skoda Estelle with a Mazda rotary shoved up its arse, the thing was mad and would melt exhausts.
I've always fancied the idea of something aero engined and alos fancy putting Mazda MX5 running gear under a MK3 triumph spitfire.

BBC Toronado/Eldorado transaxle in the rear of a VW wagon. Windows covered like panel. Blower scoop sticking thru the roof.
Turbo "Iron Duke" mounted to late transaxle in a trike. 4.3 on a pulling tractor lawn tractor sized. Someone already did a Hiyabusa in a Smart. Late model Cummings Semi diesel and tranny in a c90 with car hauler trailer for getting the others to a show. KZ1000 in a gocart!! KZ1000 in a "King Midget". http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=...Sale&FORM=IGRE The Yamaha outboard in either the "King Midget" or Go cart.

Not that far out there, but I'd like to see a Harley motor into a street legal legends car.

Re: crazy ideas for engine swaps!
There was an old studebaker at the local car show that a guy put a CAT diesel in and radiator and headlights from a cat bulldozer.
There was a turbine engine from a huey helicopter in a smart car at the Monster Jam a few years ago. And then there is this. A detroit diesel v24 with 12 blowers in a peterbuilt. |
