Swap Saginaw 4 speed manual for 350 Turbo Auto

Thoughts? The guy has a brand new 350 turbo still in the box. He's asking $500 for it. Seems expensive to me.

Would it bolt up directly to my 65? I have a small block in it now. What else would I need to make the swap work? Should I keep my eye out for a different type of transmission?

Thanks!

Re: Swap Saginaw 4 speed manual for 350 Turbo Auto

I'm just picked up a th350 that I'm going to swap out my 4-speed sm420 this winter.
I'm rounding up the parts now.
I found several threads in these forums on the topic.
If I had the money, I'd probably go with an auto that has an overdrive.
I don't have the money, and I don't drive my truck much, so the th350 should be fine for me.

If you are going automatic I would go with a 700r4, if you will send me your current tire height in inches from the ground to the top of the tire and your current rear axle ratio I will send you a spreadsheet that show speeds and torque to the ground........also your engine.....this way you can see how your truck will perform before you do it.........send me your email in a private message on this board (cannot send it any other way) cannot post it on the board must email it to you. If it is a quality rebuild, $500 is not out of line. The cheapest price I have found is $650.00 with a converter, and not including a core charge.
