ammeter millivolts

Does anyone know what millivolts the ammeter is on a 68 c10. Im changing the wiring and I know the long 12g red wire is a shunt and I want to remove this wire and install a bigger wire. If I know what millivolt the gauge is I can put a shunt on the battery feed wire I will be running which is a 4g cable. I need this because the alt is a 100 amp plus there is a lot of current going through that little 12g wire and a lot of voltage drop.
