Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
Cool! It is a 1/2 ton right? Any chance you are keeping the oem motor? If so and you want a little more performance I have a good performance book on those....If you are interested. But for now sweet truck!

Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
Yes sir, keeping everything OEM except slamming it to the ground. But eventually thinking about a t4 turbo on the 292 and def keeping the 3spd on the tree.

Short history on this project. When I started looking/love affair for a 63-66 my checklist was, all original untouched body, inline 6, preferably 292 but at that time any I6, 3 spd on the tree for sure and longbed. I ended up finding this truck about 15 miles from my house, my cousin lived down the road from him and knew i was looking for an old truck, my cuz had no idea what year or anything just saw it sitting behind an abandon farm house. So i drove by to see if i could see it from the road. Well their was someone out mowing the yard, so I was like perfect I'm gonna stop and ask if he knew whose truck it was. Ended up it was his, he was prolly a 75 year old farmer, it was on his farm. Was his farm truck since the eighties. It had sat for several years and only moved it to mow when he came out. The guy could instantly tell I was in love with it. It matched all my criteria and more. So I asked him a price, he shot out 900 but he wasn't sure about selling it. I left him my landscape business card to call me first if he ever wanted to sell it and said I would be there the week he called me to pick it up. He called about a week later, and asked about weedeating his ditch at the farm since he couldnt do it anymore and it had gotten too tall to mow. So 850 cash and weedeating a ditch and she was all mine. It was kinda sad to tow it away, I gave him the cash near the fence that led to a long lane to get back to the truck and we did the title work. It was time to pull it out because it had started up for 6months now and he didn't know why. He left right after we did the exchange and I saw a tear. He left before we could get back to the truck and left us on his property. You could tell it was his baby. But little did he know that it was about to become a part of my family lol Sorry for the long winded story. I just find it to be a good one. |

Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
Anyone have a 292 I6, double groove water pump? or know where I can find one used preferably. or know of a part number that will work. Looking to add EDC and this is my only hold up for the onboard air.

Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
Thanks guys, I'll have some more photos later this week. Finals week right now and all truck progress is at a standstill till tests are over. There should be quite a change since the last pics.

Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
So had the bags with cups in the original coil locations. Decided it needed to be lower out back.
Ended up moving the bags up about 15 or so inches and off the side of the frame. The bags sit directly on the edge of the trailing arms. So the bottom bag bolt is at the lip of the arm. Seems to have minimal flex so far. Haven't drove it too far just from one shop to another after using a big welder from a buddy. |

Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
Gotta make a new panhard bar. I had the one seen setup for a higher ride height when the bags when in the original locations. plus i bent it one day jacking up the rear end like an idiot.
I think im going to do an adjust heim joint at one end. |

Re: 1966 Retired Farm Truck
The body will remain that way. I just want to fix the floor pans eventually but I love the body how it is. Eventually a porterbuilt drop front member maybe in order, either that or a turbo for the I6.
Thanks for the compliments!! |
