New guy with a 51 chevy 3100

Hi,my name is Jack Guzman and I just recently found this forum while searching for parts for my new old truck.
Many years ago I was a mechanic. I even spent two years in a community college auto tech course. I worked on cars for a living for about fifteen years. When they put computers in cars I lost interest. It stopped being fun for me so I learned a new trade. I became a carpenter. I don't even try to figure out the complex electronics in modern cars. And in my opinion they stopped making good looking cars in the 70s.
I have a local mechanic who I know to be competent that works on my rigs. That is until I got my new toy.Noone touches that but me.
I found my dream truck. A friend had a 51 chevy pickup sitting in a field out west in desert country. All I had to do was ship it to Maine.
This truck has been beaten by 120 degree sun for years. It is complete. The seats were eaten by pack rats, all the rubber is dried out and cracked. The paint on all surfaces pointing upward is long gone and replaced by surface rust,no pitting. The frame is solid and intact .
So I dug out whatever mechanics tools I have left and started in on my new toy. This truck will be on the road with a month.I hope.
I will post here occasionally. Hope to talk to old truck nuts like me.---Jack

Welcome to the forum.

Be sure to explore all of the areas... this place has been online a long time and it has become rather huge.

The entire forum list, shows all that we have to offer.

A lot of those forums tho', have sub-forums!

So, be sure to wander around and see what is where.

Enjoy.
