Angry WHY doesnt anyone make this part!

It boggles my mind why some parts are not manufactured while some can be found just about everywhere!

Does anyone know where I can find such a part, other than scrounging around Junk yards for them.. All local junkyards here in upstate SC dont carry anything older than 1985 model cars.. Well, I cant really say all cause I haven't been to all the local ones.

Re: WHY doesnt anyone make this part!

I hate to say but after a long time looking for them spring washer all over cause they did not come with the Chevy brake kits I got I finally them, from the men behind the counter who put a lot of time helping me. He said let me try one more thing and came out with a 67-72 f*%d brake kit and there in the bag it was, the right size, they worked perfect.

Try this guy http://www.vintagechevytrucks.com/index2.html. Might be a long way away, but if he has your part? Be sure to call him though. He does not seem to do well with e-mails.

Re: WHY doesnt anyone make this part!

I found this at NAPA - UP 80660 - For a 1970 Chevrolet C10 Right Rear & Right Front (based on picture, not sure which one you need, UP 80659 is for the Left Front and Rear). Probably more than you need but all the parts are worth replacing.

Part is readily available in the Columbus, Ohio area. Not sure about where you live or if you even have a NAPA....

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=206048

just found another thread about the same problem im having. I think some of you guys were confusing the SA lever with the parking brake lever.

I HATE dealing with drum brakes!

You would think, since this lever im refering too deals with the EMERGENCY brake, that they would offer it. but whatever.

The above pic is the override bracket repair kit/assembly-that is what allows the shoes to gradually move outward when vehicle is in reverse.

Re: WHY doesnt anyone make this part!

I looked at JC whitney per your link, and searched under 1970 Chevrolet truck.. and the system said there was no match.

Re: WHY doesnt anyone make this part!

Well, guess that makes that one less parts store chain to deal with haha..

Still More digging... found out that its also called a parking brake actuator.

anyhow .. onto the purpose of my new post.. saw this..

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=471976&page=2

hopefully this will work... gonna call tomorrow and see if this is the real deal.

and from what ive gathered searching.. missing parking brake actuators seems to be fairly common problem.

Talking Re: WHY doesnt anyone make this part!

Success!!

So, shout out to SmartJaw, for posting on this in a earlier thread!

Anyhow, if you need a "parking brake lever" for your rear drum brakes go to www.Earlyclassic.com
get their business number and give um a call!

like SmartJaw said in the other thread, they dont have them on their website
but I called and asked if they sale the "PBL" by itself.
The guy said they dont normally sell them outside of the kit, but they are $19 for each side.

5 minutes later I have a pair of them heading my way!
