Tow hitch

Hi,
I found a tow hitch made for 72 Blazer according to the papers that came with it.
I wonder if anyone can tell if it will fit my 71 C20 pickup truck?
It measures 34 inch between the mounting flanges.

Thanks Mats

Re: Tow hitch

Man, some things just get scketchier with age. Knowing what I know now and seeing how hitches fail, I wouldn't pull a lawnmower trailer with that.

Really? It may look different from what you are used to since it is made for the european market. The actual hitch model is tested and good for towing a 6614 pound (3000 kilo) trailer.

Re: Tow hitch

Probably not. Blazer rails as well as 4x4 trucks have straight frame rails and 40.5" spring centers. 2x4 trucks have spread rails and 42.5" spring centers (leaf spring trucks at least, but spread rails still.)

Re: Tow hitch

Thanks Mike. My truck is 4x2 leaf spring so I guess this hitch will not fit.
The truck hithces I have seen all bolts to the underside of the frame rails.
Been looking at some pictures of frames since I have the truck in winter hibernation away from home. Seems like the mounting flanges on this hitch probably even would interfere with the leaf spring rear mounting brackets.
