Original tires
I did a search here but I could not find my answers. I have a 1970 C10 longbed with a 307 that has six lug wheels. I have two questions. The first is what was the original size of the tire and if it is not exact what sizes will fit good. The other question is what was on the tire from the factory, a small roughly 1 inch whitewall, the red strip whitewalls or no whitewall just black.

Re: Original tires
235/75-15. No idea on the sidewalls.

Re: Original tires
Thanks, I want to call around tomorrow and see if I can find some whitewalls. The truck was my father in laws and my wife wants to put the one inch whitewalls on it if it was original.

Re: Original tires
Back then a G or H 78-15 bias-ply tire was usually on these. That corresponds to a 205/75-15 or 215/75-15. An L78-15 would be similar to a 235/75-15, size-wise. The L78's were pretty common replacements.

Re: Original tires
Here is a link to the generic info packets in the GM Heritage Center archive:
http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...tion-kits.html (click on '70 Chevy pickup) This will show all of the options that could be placed on your truck. In general, tires were blackwall (base), whitewall as an additional cost option. Never redlines (not available on any truck). You didn't ask about brand but brand was not controlled. You received whatever the cheapest tire was at the time, because any piece cost savings received on a tire could be multiplied by 5 per vehicle (or 4 in the case where there was no spare). K
