I was under my truck preparing the removal of the bed and saw not one saddle tank, but what I believe to be two.

Is this normal?

Is there a way to make these my primary?

I would definitely prefer to use these, then place a new tank between my frame.

I have always seen them in pairs. No reason that they couldnt be primary, as far as i know

I am also wanting to try and figure out a way to run the proper wiring to allow my gas gauge to read from these saddle tanks....I am trying to save a little dime, while also removing the cab tank.

Does it appear that both tanks havefuel level sending units? I have never had a pre 73 truck with saddle tanks. My brother has a 72 cheyenne with dealer installed saddles that he removed after resto. Idint believe it had sending units in the saddle tanks.

My '72 has twin aftermarket tanks made by TravelTanks (no longer in business). They have sending units that are wired through a 3-way switch at the bottom of the dash. If your tanks have sending units, it shouldn't be hard to wire them. If not, you'd need to find some that would work.

As to using them for primary fuel tanks.... sure, why not?

Yes,you can run off the saddle tanks and delete the factory tank

I've got a left side saddle tank on the '71 Cheyenne, its got a tool box option, so, no room for a right side tank. It's a wheel well fill style, so no holes in the bed. I'd like to get a set for the '70 C10, and add a Suburban tank at the rear. Maximum fuel capacity, oh yeah!
