Poly gas tank filler

i just finished my new filler set up (almost). just have to get a piece of 1.5" copper and sotter it on. . it looks a little rough right now but once i clean it up and get Line-X bedliner in it will be sweet. man it got too complicated but it will work good now.

Kinda off line but it is adjustable for when I'm really done.
Excuse the dirtyness.

The fun part was sottering with the tank at .25 full and fumes traveling through the pipe and in the previous sotter (not hooked to the take yet) flames shot out the pipe and didn't go out right away I'm glad me and my Dad didn't blow up

I changed it to this way because with the normal gas filler tube stuff and the tank created a funnel that backuped up the system so it would take forever to fill and it would burp. Now the gas has a direct path into the tank with no slow downs. The gas nozzle on the bump, butts up to the 3/4" pipe but fits in the 3/4" repair tubing. So it will work a million times better.

Think twice before you do the Line-X liner. I did it on a new Dodge Cummins. The liner totally SUCKED! It may have just been the installer of Line-x is just a lousy product. I hate to bad mouth a product but... My $40k truck looked like garbage within 2 months. It pealed, cracked, chipped, and stained. I ended up putting a rubber bed mat in to hide the Line-X. Just my 2 cents but if I were you, I would save my $500 because once you do it, you are stuck with it. Myself, I traded the truck in while it was dark.

Phil,
Take it back to the dealer and demand he repair it.

My neighbor got his 03 chevy pickup line-x'd 6 months ago and it still looks like he just got it done. That dealer did an excellant job.It looks REALLY good!

Michael,
What is the purpose of the 3/4" section and the 1.5" section around it? Does the fuel go into the 3/4" tubing or into the 1.5" tubing? How did you connect the inner tubing to the adapter plate?

This looks like a great way to mount a filler. Thanks for the pics!

I live in Oregon so I have to let someone else fill the tank which means a good filler is going to be required.

the size adaptors are only there to make it 1.5 inches so that a rubber hose can be put over it and connect it to the marine filler cap.
i filed the stoper out in the .75" to 1" fitting so it could slide all the way down with a continuous piece of .75" going through it. the adaptors are not nessecary to fill the tank only to seal it all off.
it is all sottered and sealed!!

i hope i answered your question.
