In cab heater delete plate - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Came across a heater delete plate in a. 60-66 truck. I know the under hood plates are not too difficult to find. How hard is it to find one of these? It's a shame someone drilled a hole in it for an accessory switch of some sort.

Hole looks like the factory hole for the thrift air heater. They had a single cable to pull for heat and you twisted/rotated the knob for fan speed. Not rare at all more common than the 3 lever type

That is the plate and hole for the "standard" heater control. Its a pull for heat and twist for fan set up. More common than the 3 slot deluxe heater plate.

That isn't really a delete plate. It is the standard dash plate that most trucks came with and the hole is for a control knob. See pic below.

funny, up north here we all had deluxe heaters, for example of the 80+ trucks in the local wrecking yard I think I found 2 with that style of heater... so up here it is rare!

This reminds me of a question I have. Under my dash I have the blower unit for the heater and it seems to work. Under the hood I have 2 delete plates where the large black box usually is. What is that thing?

that is the economy, or cheap heater, there should be plumbing from your motor to it, but it is all contained in the cab

Yes I do have heater hoses going into the cab via firewall. I thought I was maybe missing something. I think I will pull it all out and clean it up. I guess there is a heater core in there right?

That would be rare here in Arizona also....mine doesn't have any of the heater or air cond. parts.

Yes you have a heater core. Everything is inside the cab with the recirculating heater. Your heater controls should have only 2 levers/knobs.
