Disappointed in Magna Flow
My son's car has a Magna Flow Cat-Back system on it that the PO put on. He noticed a vibration last week and on inspection we found the left tube cracked where it meets the muffler.
Checked the Magna Flow website, lifetime warranty on stainless exhausts...for the original owner(we are not). Sent an email just to see if they might stand behind the part even though we were not the original purchaser. Not a chance. I asked how to order a new tube to replace the cracked one...they wont sell one piece of a kit, I have to buy the whole thing...so they want me to spend $600 to fix something that they would replace under a lifetime warranty if I were the original purchaser. My disappointment is not that they wont replace the broken part (I figured that from the start but for some reason I thought they might), but that they wont help me at all by letting me buy the part I need. Oh well, to the muffler shop to have it welded up.

Geeze, that really bites. Stuff like this sure doesn't make me want to purchase from them.

Re: Disappointed in Magna Flow
I feel your pain. except mine is on an RV slide.
Short version of a 5 month battle for a part. I wasn't asking for anything free. Just sell me a part and I'll pay what you ask, then be gone. This is for a 3 yr old unit we paid over $19,000 for new. I needed a drive gear, 16 tooth, about 1-1/4 in diameter. All sources all the way to factory said no parts sale, had to buy complete unit to the tune of $800.00 Finally took gear to a good machinist. He rebuilt the missing tooth and machined it to match the rest. Amazing work. What has happened to quality repair, parts availablity, and support from the whole system of new products we buy anymore???? 'Nuff of my rant for today.

Re: Disappointed in Magna Flow
Yep...they had a chance to turn a 16 year old car nut into a lifetime customer, but instead turned him and his dad into folks who probably wont buy from them in the future.

Re: Disappointed in Magna Flow
they dont expect most people to keep the car, most people sell them after a few years.. had the same issues with my DD, KIA,, 100K warranty? HA only for original owner.... you know these bean counters figure out what it really costs with lifetime warranties, and if they do run into one person who did keep the car, they may even deny it, due to 'racing' or some other reason.
I take these lifetime warranties with a grain of salt...

Re: Disappointed in Magna Flow
Simple answer--Muffler shop, stainless steel pipe, pipe bent to match, and a good weld job. Repair it like a country guy would and go on. There is a reason that corporations like Magna Flow limit their warranties, they would be inundated with claims of all sorts forever. This decision was certainly made at the fiscal level and they can stay solvent this way.
I run Magna Flow mufflers, but my systems are built at the shop. Never really got into the exhaust systems built miles away and shipped to my house thing. There is always a fitment issue that you cannot fix easily.
