Thoughts and experience
Getting ready to order Patch Panels for my '70. Who has bought from fixmyrust.com ? What was your experience and thoughts about the quality offered? I know that most parts are made by just a few manufacturers, what are your thoughts?
They offer a repair kit for $160 that is all the parts I need to replace on my cab. http://www.fixmyrust.com/Item/1967-1...Cab_Repair_Kit

Re: Thoughts and experience
That seems like a good price for the parts in the kit.

Re: Thoughts and experience
Subscribed, that seems like a good deal.
Looks exactly the same as this kit: http://www.topbananaparts.com/cab-repair-kit.html It could very well be the same manufacturer, different vendors. I've never purchased patch panels before though. |

Re: Thoughts and experience
You are forgetting the inner footwells or lower cowl panel as some have them labeled. It is the part that your foot will rest against the one closest to the door, but they are only about 15to 20 each depending on who's site you go to. I am in the middle of this right now in my shop floor on one of my three to do and I had some parts laying around or this would have fit the bill very nicely. Jim

Re: Thoughts and experience
I bought that same kit from Fix My Rust....quality is good...same as other places offer...Key parts & Tri-plus. Shipping price was better than any other vendor I found. I am in the process of installing the pieces...no real suprises...all aftermarket items need some "massaging" to fit right.

For the "kit" plus these other parts, the shipping was $48 to N.J.
Floor section L&R sides Inner door bottom L&R FULL door skins L&R Rear cab support L&R Front cab support L&R Price seemed fair to me..it all came in 3 large boxes Fedex..direct to my house. |

Re: Thoughts and experience
Well my shipping was only $16.13. I only got the foot wells and two upper hinges, front cab support and two lower front pillars. My stuff is almost small enough to mail in a shoe box. I may end up wishing that I had ordered the floor piece with the rocker panel made on to it for both sides, it looks to be one of the cleanest ways to fix the floors. I was thinking about a cab flipper of some sort but have since decided to put the cab on my rotissere since it is idle now and the cab flipper would be more limiting on moving than the rotator. This truck started out to be one of the "cheaper " of the three that I am building this style[2 70's and a 68 GMC] but the steel bed floor is super clean and [almost ] laser straight so this truck is ending up with a cab off rotissere frame up job that is gonna be painted underneath the same as up top. Re: Thoughts and experience
Here is an idea ... How bout supporting the site vendors??? These guys pay a fee to be vendors here. The fees help support the site. They have all the same stuff and more these other non supporting places have. Most of them are super knowledgeable about our trucks and freely give out tons of support here on the boards.
Ive been a member here for quite awhile and I consider a lot of these fellas personal friends, and I haven't even met most of them in person. Click here and scroll down to vendors, there are a couple of different groups so dont just stop at the first set ... you wont be sorry =) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showgroups.php And here is the vendors market place. Keep an eye out because you often see site only specials ... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=195 And no Im not a vendor, I just appreciate em

Re: Thoughts and experience
The door skins are Key Parts brand (Taiwan of course ) and are .035 thick...the original total rusted through one's I removed ( GM ) were .040 thick. I checked them with a Mic. I have the right side one installed...no issues. Have not done the drivers side yet. I feel for the price..you really can't go wrong.
