To drive or not to drive
What are everyone's thoughts on driving my truck to the muffler shop approximately 30 miles away without the back pressure of the exhaust?

Re: To drive or not to drive
That is what I am going to do, but it is only 8 miles!
I do have some head pipes, or down piles from the exhaust manifolds and the o2 sensors and about 3 feet of straight piles. It may be too noisy we will see

Re: To drive or not to drive
besides the noise... i dont understand the concern.... also make sure there is nothing flamable that the exhaust gases could start on fire

Cool, thanks for the replies guys! Just didn't know if it would hurt the engine or not.

Re: To drive or not to drive
As long as you have headers, you'll be ok. If your running a radical setup, the engine will give you some fight since the 02's won't be in the exhaust path....and you'll be loud as hell and getting about 8mpg. 30 miles is longer than I would push it with that.
Honestly, in general 30 miles is farther than I'd go with anything "half way" on my truck. Besides just whether or not you CAN, should you? I'd end up with a ticket before I even got there with open headers.

Re: To drive or not to drive
I used a local guy with a trailer he drives the truck on and it puts the truck up in the air like a lift, he put the exhaust on and then drove it off. honestly scared the h311 out of me though!
I wish I would have gotten some pictures...

Re: To drive or not to drive
Do you mean the trailer has a 4 post lift mounted to it and sitting on 4 tires and a hitch?

Re: To drive or not to drive
It wasn't as nice as ^^^^ but it served its purpose and it wasn't that bad, i am very particular with my truck and he was used to driving things on it...just made me nervous
