I used a kit from Stainless Steel Brakes and had problems.
They are fine now. I looked at the kit that GMC Paul has,
after the fact, and would use it if I had it to do again.

I've got the link to the company that makes the kits for GMC Pauls.... http://www.mcgaughysclassic.com/ Well, at least it came in mcgaughy's boxes. ECE seems to be overpriced to me anyways....but that's just my opinion...

68stepside, I have a quick question. In the kit does it have everything needed to work with power drum brakes? Will I have to upgrade to 71-72 tierod ends and ball joints? How does everything look? I'm not doubting what gmc paul sells I couldn't imagine him selling bad parts. I'm just curious about everything.
sorry for all the questions. Billy

Hey Billy,No you want have to change the ball joints but you will need a disc brake proportion valve. I am also a dealer for http://www.mcgaughysclassic.com/ If interested shoot me a PM and I will shoot you a price. Thanks

I used the kit from early classic enterprises, worked great and the quality was awsome, a bit on the expensive side, all and all it was $2000 Canadian for everything

I started putting that kit in my 69 last night, I'm still taking things apart. In addition to the proportioning valve, you need a master cylinder from a 71 or 72. Bought one locally for under $25 with a core charge. Also installing new ball joints and 3" drop springs and shocks on the rear. Looks to be a week-long job.

I used GMC Paul's kit on my '68. Worked great! One of the easiest upgrades I've done so far. Simply take off the old parts and bolt in the new ones.

To save yourself some time, I'd suggest changing ball joints at the same time.

Changed ball joints when I put the 2 inch drop springs in about 6 months ago. I think you guys have sold me on the mcgaughy's kit.

Another thing to check while you're doing the swap is the control arm shafts. Mine are loose, and I called to get some. Moogs are about $220 for all four, imports are about $140. My comment to the parts guy was that I didn't want to have to replace them again, no imports when I can buy made in the USA.
