Question Diesel - 292 swap.

How much work would it be to swap a 292 and a 4spd into my 85 with a 6.2 an auto? Like motor and tranny mounts etc and how bad would it be to put an np205 while I'm in there?

Doesn't sound too bad, you might want to look for a parts truck that has that drivetrain you want so you get all the little pieces to make life easier.

Re: Diesel - 292 swap.

Definetly get a donor truck. Otherwise you'll have to piece it everywhere and it'll cost 2x as much.

With a donor truck everything should bolt right in.

What's the reasoning behind the swap? IMO, going from a 6.2L to a 292 is a step in the wrong direction. However, a 4 speed manual and np205 is a step in the right direction.
