Fuel pump question
Hi folks,
Just got back from a 2 week vacation and had a hard time starting my truck. Normally it starts right up. I noticed there wasn't much fuel in the fuel filter so I used starting fluid and cranked it over quite a bit and finally it started. Drove into town and back and it started fine. Is this possibly a sign that the fuel pump is giving up the ghost because it seems to have let the fuel back out of the filter and I'm guessing the fuel in the bowls of the Edelbrock may have evaporated? Thanks, Tom

Re: Fuel pump question
If it ran fine after getting it started, it's not the fuel pump. If it takes a while to start after setting for a day it could be the fuel is draining out of the carb.
I agree to run it a couple of days and see if you still have to prime it. I've used to have a plastic filter and it never stayed full of fuel. I got rid of it years ago and now use a metal one that I replace every 6 months.

Re: Fuel pump question
It's been a while since I had the plastic fuel filter (15 yrs?) but I do recall it never was full of fuel but the truck ran fine. Maybe someone else that has a plastic filter can check theirs.
