Front lower fender mounting ?
Does anyone have a pic or two on how the fender should be mounted to the cab on the lower portion? Mine was rigged up by the PO who bent some 1" metal strip to basically hold the lower fender close to the cab. Unfortunately, driving it a lot has caused some distortion of the strip and the fender is now interfering with the door operation. I would like to see how it should be done, because I know it's not correct now. Sorry, don't have pics right now. I'll try to get some up later.

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
i didn't find any pics of the fender mount; hole in mount, threaded nut in fender is pretty much it.
usually what causes the door fender interference is the front cab mounts getting saturated with oil and collapsing. you see a lot of stock untouched trucks with doors that are bent with pliers to open the doors

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
Ok. Thanks. It recently started to squeak too. Any fixes for that?

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
Both my doors do the same thing. One fender is just starting to interfere. The other one is so bad I have to kick it to open the door. I think the bolt just totally pulled through the lower mount on mine.
I have no clue how I will fix mine but if you find an easy way let me know! ![]() Last edited by kraz88; 11-20-2013 at 01:21 AM. |

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but here's how the lower fender mounts to the cab. There's a captive nut (or should be) in the fender that accepts a bolt through the hole in the mount. These brackets are available through most any vendor that sells TF parts.

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
russell posted the only fastening point for the lower fender.
agnes and kraz both need to change your front cab rubber, you will only increase the damage to the doors and fender by leaving them lots of other things that add to the fender interference but usually if your door closes but hits the fender you can change the cab mounts and fix most of your problems other items that will cause the door and fender to hit; hinge pins, rusty floors and cab support around the front mounts, missing rubber on the fender to cab, etc...

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
Oger, you described my drivers door , at some time in its life someone took the pliers to it, never had any interference since I've had her. Just wonder what cab mount you referred to , cab to frame or fender to frame rubber as in #12 on the LMC page link?
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=13 Cab to frame all I have is bolt and a few shims up front and rubber mounts on back. But drivers side hinges have been messaged and tacked welded by PO.Pretty sure that were the damage came from , floors and mounts all solid. |

Re: Front lower fender mounting ?
kim and orrieg post some good info in a thread a few years back http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=439277
item 12 on lmc link is the fender to cab seal, i had to dig around to find the cab mounts on lmc's website the front rubber is more like shims the back rubber is a thick block then you have the rubber under the core support, they all deteriorate and cause that fender pinch the front cab mounts have a tendency to rust out and sag the front of the cab too
