Static lowering

OK I'm new to this game I had when I was younger a 67 swb with a big block in it with the back end dropped to level. I have read on 1 of the threads on here about static lowering, is that when you clamp the coils together to lower or what. I have restored a couple old tractors, but I'm going tomorrow to look at another 67 swb that is a blank sheet, solid but all apart. I want to lower it just a little and wondering the best way. When I say a little just 2 or 3". I don't like the idea of going over speed bumps and worrying about dragging.

Not dynamic=static. Springs/spindles/shackles and not airbags. Keep stock height tires on it, 27-29" and drop the front 4 1/2" and the rear 6. Shouldn't have any troubles navigating the roadways with that setup.

This truck has the step side with the spare tire holder on the fender, would rather have a fleet side but this truck is cheap enough that I can't hardly pass it up. Thanks for the info also.

To put it another way....

Static lowered is lowered the same all the time. You use drop spindles and springs usually to get this. It sits the same 365 days a year no matter what.

Non static is using an adjustable suspension that allows you to vary the height. Air bags and hydraulics mainly. Bad roads, raise it up, smooth roads, drop it down. Can't do that with static drop parts.

I've got a '69 short step with the spare on the fender as well. I bought the ECE 2 1/2" 5 lug spindles and 2" coils for the front. My truck is a leaf spring so will do a flip in the rear. Look forward to updates on your truck! I'll post pics on mine when I get started. Christmas break I hope. I'm swapping in a '72 housing for the width and the 5 lugs and putting my 3:73 posi in that housing.
