Best aftermarket engine mounts?

Hey Guys,

I am planning a crate engine engine swap into my '72 (350, 2-piece rear main seal...not and LS engine). I'd like to replace my engine mounts and I've heard that direct GM ones are a little pricey. What are the best aftermarket engine mounts?

Thanks for the input, Guys!

Re: Best aftermarket engine mounts?

Any auto parts store will have what you need for 20 bucks a piece or less. You'll just need to be year specific as far as mounts go. If possible, take an old one into the store with you! 9 times out of 10 its a college kid giving you parts from what the computer tells him to. A good parts guy is hard to find these days! Just tell the guy you have a 72 with a sbc. I'm pretty sure all truck mounts are the same for sbcs in the older trucks. However the mounts changed a little from cars. The car mounts are an oval looking creature.

Yeah, I didn't know if there were any brands that were better than others...Moog, etc?

Thanks!

If you can get moog from the local guys then that would be ideal. As far as spending a ton of money on them... thats up to you. The only motor mounts I've ever seen worn out were 20+ years or older. Personally I'd get what I could afford comfortably. I wouldn't break the bank on them.

My 383 destroyed 2 sets of oe $30 mounts in the first 3 months. The rubber was just junk . I now run Prothane mounts

Got a set from NAPA recently.....cheap, & believe it or not, they had them in stock....fit & work fine.

Re: Best aftermarket engine mounts?

Dam! I suppose I haven't bought motor mounts in a while. I was running high strung bbcs through mud pits and never once had one fail! I didn't know they were being made so ****ty. Glad someone else chimed in here, cause I'm fixin to buy a set my self. However MOOG still makes good parts. I wouldn't hesitate at all with them. I just replaced my whole front end with MOOG parts and they are top notch.
