Highlander conundrum
I recently acquired a LWB '72 Custom Deluxe with the Highlander package and 350/350 combo. It was originally an all white truck based on the SPID, with the Avocado package. I bought it to fix up and sell (this is NOT a for sale post)....though I'm getting kind of attached to it.
The previous owner won it in a drawing, evidently after a repaint. It was a Texas truck based on the dealer emblem still there, so likely its been here all its life. It had been repainted red/white with red interior. Being a Highlander it has white seat, white door panels, and white visors with black dash pad, black steering wheel/column, and black carpet. The original seat cover is still there, tho its in bad shape on the drivers side. The white door panels are there, also dried out and the white armrests look like repainted black ones. I want to freshen up the interior. My thought..............to replace the seat, door panels, and visors with black ones. Or....should I get all white replacements and just skip the "plaid" inserts on the seat? This truck is very original (even has its AM radio) without much changed but the color and the wheels instead of hub caps. I don't think I feel too bad about changing the interior to black.......or should I? So......................since it will be for sale.....should I go with black interior bits or keep it white?

Re: Highlander conundrum
Go back with the white it would be so cool. What about a white and red /maroon type plaid insert that would look good

Re: Highlander conundrum
funny im in exactly the same situation! bought one to flip thats missing most of the original gold (off white) interior. trying to find original parts but its hard. i have black interior parts from a donor. it just seems like it needs the original stuff, but for a flip its hard to justify... i love the highlander plaid, i think that will add value.

Do as little as possible and sell for more than you paid

Re: Highlander conundrum
KEEP IT!!! Inspiration (sorry, no white w/avocado. but the white/blue and yellow/green should help... Mine's white/blue - not gonna let it go (famous last words...) In fact, getting ready to sell my 71 Cheyenne super custom camper so I can foot the bill on the 72 highlander. Really like the truck, love the plaid).
