Pulling Engine/Trans Checklist...I Miss Anything?

Team:

I have an automatic 1970 C20, sb 350, th350

I am going to be pulling my engine/trans this weekend. I have the entire front clip (rad support, fenders, etc.) removed.

Here is the checklist I have made for the pull. Please review and let me know if there is anything I am missing.

-transmission crossmember bolts
-power steering lines
-exhaust at manifolds
-heat & a/c hoses
-oil gauge line
-all wires at the alternator
-wires at the starter
-motor mounts

I do have a question, the bolts at the motor mount are near impossible to access, is there anyway I can remove the brackets from the frame? Would that be easier?

Mahalo!

There may be a couple ground straps.

Trans linkage.

Drive shaft (probably not necessary since you have the rad sup out of the way)

Be prepared for the trans fluid that may pour out of the tail

The air ratchet is your friend...at least on 72 motor mounts.

Ground straps...one grounding the motor to the battery, one or two from the rear valve cover bolts to the firewall.

Throttle linkage,
Choke cable if manual,
Temp sensor wire,
Distributor wires,
Vac hose from carb base to booster if boosted brakes.
You may have to remove trans linkage pivot mount for clearance.
Trans cooling lines if not already removed with rad.

Sounds like fun, shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour.

With the front clip out of the way, it wont take much more than that.

When I was a parts puller at a junk yard I could have one out in 15 to 20 minutes...of course a LOT of wires and hoses got cut...and I had a boom wrecker to yank it out with....oh, and I was a young man who could leap under and around like a kid.
