possible 1954 Dually

Hey guys.
figured id ask you what all you think, ive had a bunch of inpit from people i know and all, but more doesnt hurt
so this topic is about a truck i found for sale.
the guy has it posted as a 1955 GMC 150 Pickup
im a Dodge guy, and know them more than i do Chevy..
but i figured out that in fact its really a 1954.
Ill attach some pics he has posted.
the OP was for 1800, and within a month has dropped to 1500.
all he states in the add is "call for more info......rare 30xxx miles motor runs good needs to be finished"

so, i dont want to let him know anyone is interested yet, in hopes that hell lower the price a little more. but lets say it all checks out ok and all... how much would you guys offer? if anyone is wondering, btw, i plan on keeping it stock for a bit and eventually make a rat rod out of it and make a custom bed to haul my motorcycle and such
tthanks!

Re: possible 1954 Dually

I like it just how it is for 1500. But, I would lose the PBR shifter.

Re: possible 1954 Dually

It very well could be a 1955 1st series truck. '54 - '55 1st were a two year only design. Same as the Chevy trucks, they had mid year change in design. A '55 2nd series would be the '55.2 - '59. A good place for GMC info is oldgmctrucks.com

Not fair to judge just by looking at pictures. Go look at it and make an offer. Good luck

If you have cash on hand, it shouldn't make a difference.
If you offered something in the ballpark of $1200, right away, I bet he'd sell it close to your offering price.

just my 2¢

If it has a clear title, I agree with mechanixman.

Yep, take 1500 and if it looks good and sounds good hold out 12 crispy 100's and ask if he will take that for it. then go from there because he will probably offer to meet you half way. If it runs and isn't rusted out anywhere between 12 and 1500 is a fair price for that truck just because you can haul with it.

Personally I hate the rat rod concept as it is the ruination of a lot of what otherwise could be nice vehicles. Leave it as and call it patina even though it is the sign of rust and neglect or slick it out and put a simple original appearing paint job on it and build a set of ramps that will also serve as side racks by having pegs on one side that slip in the stake pockets and call it good and haul the bikes.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

$1500 is not bad for a truck like that to be the basis for something like this ...

If he already came down from 1800 to 1500, most likely he didn't get much intrest and thought he was asking too much. Odds are he'll drop the price again. 1K would be fair. imho.
