Re: Where to get shift Knobs
most venders sell them but no pattern on the 420 knob. my 221 knob has nothing on it and i think it's org. both have same threads. an sm420 nos went for over $100 on e-bay.
back in 63 my friends dad had a 63 2wd 1/2 ton with a sm420 and the shifter knob had nothing on it? this truck was org and org owner.

Re: Where to get shift Knobs
If you do not need an oem look on ebay under tractor shift knobs. I got a pair of round ones for my twin stick for $10 plus reasonable shipping. They also have the transmission mushroom and round style for cheap. Same knobs in the auto section are significantly marked up.

Re: Where to get shift Knobs
Here's my post on how to make one. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=662501
Once I completed the final coats of paint it looks real nice.

Re: Where to get shift Knobs
I'll get a better picture so you guys can see. That picture is blurry and does it no justice. I'm very happy.... except the "i". But that girl was a sweet heart and she was so proud of her work, I just did not have the heart to say anything about it.

Re: Where to get shift Knobs
I got the engraving done in one day. You can get the knob at a truck stop, or truck parts shops. I live near Castaic, which is like a big truck stop off I-5. There is two truck parts stores chalk full of goodies. And one has an area in the back with parts that have years of dust and are under priced. I bought all their bed tie down for half price of internet plus no shipping. Nice find as the ones on my truck were pitted!
