In a movie it shouldn't be in..

There's a few threads about our trucks IN movies, commercials and TV shows..
Here's one it shouldn't be in..

Opening arial shot of "More American Graffiti" you get a look at a GMC pick up which wouldn't even be in the showrooms for two more years.

Given the great pains they took to recreate the look of a vintage 1964 New Years Eve event, someone slipped.

Watch Walk The Line when Johnny is in Memphis there is I think a Nomad with torque thrusts really? they had torque thrusts in 1955 56? and I don't think many people would've changed the rims on a car back then anyway unless you were into drag racing

The prop guys were Dazed and Confused. I think the El Camino is a 1977 and the movie was set in 1976.

You see the entire line of vehicles outside the fence as the Helicopter flies up on the event.. they're all vintage vehicles.. although the Lemans/GTO in front of the truck looks to be the 66-67 model, which also shouldn't be there..

And I can't quite tell, a Volkswagen fan would know the models better..
But if that Bug has a curved windshield..I believe it's also out of place.

You're right! That is a '67 GTO. I can see the integrated grill trim that was different from '66, and unless its clone, (unlikely back then) only GTO's has the parking lights in the grill.

There was a 67-72 era GMC in yesterday's episode of "The Walking Dead".

Re: In a movie it shouldn't be in..

too blurry to tell for sure but that bug is no 64...appears to have regular headlights, not the ones with the glass covers....side windows look too large....early bumper would be skinny with bumper guards and tubular overrider bar...

Re: In a movie it shouldn't be in..

And if "Volkworld" wouldn't know.. who would? ..lol

You do see it more clearly in the film itself.. it does have the skinny bumper..
I wasn't quite sure when they dropped that tube over feature..

Saw that. I think it had the rear view mirror glued to the windshield, which would make it a '72.

Ahh, people after my own heart!
My wife goes ballistic when we're quietly watching a movie and all of a sudden I jump on the remote, back up the disc and tell her "look at that!"
She responds with slight irritation, "Look at what pray-tell......." and I tell her the flick is supposed to be such and such a year, and there's a car/truck that's two years too new!
Does she appreciate my astute observations? Not so much.
I still enjoy looking for things that shouldn't be there, and when I see something, now I just point to the screen and she can't stand it. "Oh, WHAT??"
"Aha! Gotcha old girl! Did you see that Chevy?..........." And so it goes......life in my fast lane

Most of my friends hate me when we see a movie..
I'm always noticing things out of place in period films..

The biggest violator in the last decade for me was "Goodfellas"..

There's a few in that film.. the biggest, was them leaning on a 1965 Impala when the time period was supposed to be 1963..

In that same sequence.. the man who complained that "two -------- stole my truck", is directed to, and uses a modern wall mount phone.

Later when he takes Karen to the Copa.. they cut through the kitchen,
And the glass and soda containers are modern plastic ones, instead of the wooden ones they should have been for 1963.

Also, all the fire extinguishers are modern rated pressurized ones in red with the fire department tags, instead of the 'turn me over and spray' models from the 60s.

Yeah.. I can't find anyone to go to the movies with.

Re: In a movie it shouldn't be in..

It really gets me when they call something wrong too.
I recently watched a movie called "Rushlights" on Netflix, where a car is stolen. In the police report it is specifically called a '67 El Camino.....the actual car is a 72-76 style Ranchero.
Why? It is not relevant in any way to the story, just call it the Ranchero that is really is.

I wish they could figure out that two stroke motorcycles don't sound like four strokes and vice-versa.
