Wiper Travel Issue- Adjustment?

Hi there i'm from New Zealand and just got me a 76 suburban chassis lenghtened 500mm with a 84 crew cab and short box, 400sb t400. Real good conditon. I have issue with wiper over traveling ,as in i runs over the screen edge on the drivers side. In the down position it is low as it can go. Is there any travel adjustment on the linkage? Are there different wiper arms for each side?- these look the same.It looks as though its been going on for a while as the window rubber has a wear groove. Cheers

I would remove the wiper arm, and rotate towards the cowl and reinstall.

Thats the problem its already hard against the window edge. Its like the arc travel distance needs to be reduced.

Welcome to the site. I think the set point when down, is the wiper being parallel to the dash. That's how I have mine. They actually sit up high.

Re: Wiper Travel Issue- Adjustment?

Hi Thanks, when i work out how to post pictures i'll put some up. Keep getting upload failed errors. The wiper blade is parallel to the dash and that is when it is right down against the window rubber. In the up postion it travels past the side window rubber. Do you know if the wiper arms are different on each side , mine are the same. No matter what i could do to the arm (mechanicaly) it wont change the fact that the arc travel is too much.

For your pictures, if you're attaching them directly to this forum, try resizing them as your pictures may be too large for attachment limits on this site. If that's something that's too technical, let us know which program you're using and we can help you resize them. You can also load them to a picture hosting site and link to them from here.

As for the wipers, there aren't any travel adjustments I've ever seen on these trucks. Since you Suburban chassis has a custom length and different body on it, I would suspect some of these other parts aren't stock either...
