Numbers on Rear Axle

I'm trying to determine the kind of rear axle I've got on my truck.
The truck VIN decodes to a 69 C10 1/2 ton P/U with the V-8 motor.
However the frame was cut just behind the cab and a different frame welded
on. The numbers on the rear axle are GM58 and NF 3896839. Does this give
anybody a clue as to what kind of truck it may have come from??
I know what the ratio is, 3.73, since it was stamped on the ring gear
when I took the cover plate off to drain the fluid.

Bye the way, I went to driveline.com and none of the above numbers
match anything on their web pages.

Thanks!

You might try GMC Pauls for the information.

The #'s you need to post are on the axle tube and have the pattern XXX nnn, where XXX is the key to decode your rear, nnn is the julian date of assembly. I found mine on the top passenger side. These #'s are stamped, not cast, and are very had to find, especially if rusty

Though this is for car axles, it'll give you an idea as to what stamping to look for.
