15x12 rims on 33s?
Looking into buying new rim for my 1985 gmc high sierra stepside. This is my set up currently, 15x8 with 33/12.5/15s and id like to up grade to some MT classic 2s 15x12s, ive seen 15x10 with 33s. But i was curious if anyone has run this before and how is the back spacing? If it matters the truck has a 4 inch suspension lift kit. Heres a picture.

Re: 15x12 rims on 33s?
Hey Snowneck, I`m only one man with one opinion............... so here we go!
Too short of a tire on too wide of a rim, it will make the truck look goofy, I added a pick of my 78 Silverado. When I bought the truck it had 15X12s with 33s, looked horriable! Ended up putting on 15X10s with 35X12.50, MUCH cleaner look IMO. Nick

Re: 15x12 rims on 33s?
My opinion is the same as Sacramento's above. A 12" rim is just too wide for that tire. It's designed for a 10" wide rim and will work on an 8" rim, though I'd prefer to stay with 10". 12" is just too wide and aside from not working too well (sidewalls can't flex properly for one thing), to me it would just look goofy. Like I said, just my opinion.
Sacramento, that's a great-looking square body on 35s!

12 inch wheel too wide for a 14 IMO. I had a set of Ground Hawgs on some 15x12 Bart's and it was just too much.

Re: 15x12 rims on 33s?
33-12.50's stretched on 12's are big in Hawaii for some reason. When i was there and asked the beach dudes they said it was for floatation when running on the sandy beaches. I smiled and nodded but that doesn't make any sense. Airing a tire down for floatation makes sense but the side wall needs to flex and 15x12's wont keep the bead easy with a 12.50 at single pressure digit.
So if useability, practicality and looks aren't there then there's no need for it i guess.
