My new GMC business card holder

I sell at a lot of the automotive swapmeets here in AZ as well as CA. Since I really started focusing on specializing in Chevy and GMC truck parts I had been trying to find something that would make a unique business card holder and also showcase what I do. This is what I came up with. I have had this project in the works for almost a year. I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it done. It just took a while to find a reliable friend with a sheet metal brake to finalize the process. This was salvaged last Christmas from a very bent and twisted 1973 GMC tailgate. Since GMC is my brand of choice I figured this would be ideal. Hope all of you like it! It may get painted to match my truck later but for now I love the patina!

Now that is ****-hot right there. Now that you have a friend with a brake, if you find another tailgate I would loooooove one of those. GMC is my preference as well. I have a '73/'74 nearly-new take off gate from a barn but I am not gonna take anything to it but polish.

Re: My new GMC business card holder

Thanks! I really like it! It is nice to have something you envision in your head for a long time actually get finished! I have 2 take off 73-74 GMC tailgates as well. I always watch for any 73-74 GMC gate. Just need to have a sawzall handy when I find a rough one. Don't want to pay full price for just a piece!

that's cool, if you can some old gates cheap enough they would sell good.

Re: My new GMC business card holder

Thanks guys! I am really happy with it! Hard to find the early GMC tailgates though. I probably have too much other stuff I need to sell anyway!

That looks great. Sadly, I have scrapped several early GMC gates that were bent. I guess I will cut out that section first before the next one goes.

Re: My new GMC business card holder

I love it and don't paint it.

Heres what I made using my GM paint's I had made for touch ups and what not. Kinda strange I know but my boy had these little trucks around everywhere and he actually pointed out that one of his trucks looked a lot like Richard Parker, that's what the kids call our rig, so I decided to make him one. I did another for my daughter too and they love them.

It is great doing stuff like that! When I first posted that I liked your truck, I didn't realize you were in AZ. Are you in the Phoenix area?
