Air Ride

im looking for air ride in about 2 or 3 months and i was wondering what some members had how good the ride was and maybe pics of how low it is??

I don't have air-ride in my 74 (yet), but I did ride in a fellow board members 77swb w/4whl air ride (rear bag over leaf set-up) & was impressed w/the ride quality the limited distance I actually went.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I have AirRide Technologies stuff. I am using a 2-way RidePro w/ 1/4" line and a parallel four link on the rear with a big homemade c-notch, and I am not sure the name of the front kit...Cool Ride or something like that. My suggestion, go with a 4-way setup and use at least 3/8" line. Otherwise, your truck will sit crooked and raise up slooooowwly.

I have about $2200-$2400 in mine. You can probably get into an air ride setup cheaper though these days. I am getting ready to dump about another $800-$1000 more into it this winter. I am going to upgrade my 2-way to a 4-way plus some other stuff.

Mine rides pretty good. It took me a little while to get used to it becasue it felt so much different. I think it has something to do with the air springs not rebounding like steel ones.

I can tell you from experience that whatever system you go with, get a 4-way system. These trucks lean and sway too much to just control front and rear. You get way too much side to side air transfer with a 2-way system.

I have the Air Ride Tech "Ride Pro" system on my Blazer with 3/8" lines, two 315 compressors, and two 5 gallon tanks. It has a decent rise time, and recovery time too. It's not "fast" by today standards, but it gets the job done very nicely.

If you really want speed, try to Air Ride Tech "Big Red" valves. They are big and fast even with 3/8" lines....

Here's a comparison picture. That is not a mini compressor. The valves are actually that big. They flow some mad air...

The only thing that is better (besides price) about the "Ride Pro" system is it isn't quit as fast. Yeah, I know that doesn't sound right, but what I mean is it isn't so fast that you can make minor adjustments much easier with the slower system.

I have a solution for that problem though, I just need to get the schematic drawn out so it can be built...

I love the bags on the blazer, the ride is really good. It definitely rides better than a stock blazer. 4way set-up is definitely a must. I had a 2 way set up for about 3 days, couldn't stand the shift while cornering. so I upgraded to 4 way. SMC valves are awesome and much cheaper than ART. VIAIR compressors have been the best I have found. The 450C is 100% duty cycle and will fill most tanks quick enough.
