Once on the computer they will need to be flipped before uploading. Look at them on the computer and I use window photo viewer and flip them then upload them.
Iphone is bad about this for some reason.

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

So, they are upright when you view them on your pc and/or save them to your pc .. but once uploaded they flip upside down ? .. or are you uploading directly from your phone (Upload button the browse to your Iphone folder structure) Are the pictures actually downloaded from the phone and saved with a file name on your pc?

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

Okay it appears that you can only attach one picture per message using an Iphone.

I believe the following info may solve the problem of all the upside down photos that have been popping up on the forum due to the popularity of the iphone.

Anyway, the point I'm making is an issue with the Iphone itself. Both of these photos were taken (one right after the other) on my phone and both display (in the iphone camera roll) as right side up. but, when uploaded... well you can see the difference. With the iphone, you must have the phone oriented with the round button in your right hand and the volume buttons facing down or it will take an upside down photo.

For further information see this link: http://iphonephotographyschool.com/i...s-upside-down/

Wink Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

If U hook the phone to the computer and load them to pictures on the computer U can turn them and save them in windows picture view before U upload. It's the only way I have found to work. Plus I don't take up all my memory on the phone. I delete most pictures once I load them to my lap top.

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

Nope I didn't change any settings. It's just the phone. It has to be oriented with the round button on the right.

If you do that then you won't have to mess with rotating them on another computer or worry when uploading directly from your iphone or ipad.

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

I've got an Iphone 5 and my girl has an Iphone 4s. It works the same on both. I should probably look to see if there is a sticky on how to post pics. If there is, it needs to include this Iphone info since they are so prevalent these days.

So I pretty much have to take all horizontal shots for the most part?

If you need to take a vertical picture just make sure the volume buttons are on the left and the circle button is at the bottom.

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

Another thing to note, this also applies to video. It will be upside down if the round button is on the left (for horizontal) or on the top (vertical).

Also, when taking (vertical) video, 99.9% of the people who view it will wish you had taken it horizontally. Think widescreen TV, computer screen, etc.

... or, .. get an Android and be done with it.

My work phone is a Galaxy S4. Awesome phone. 13mp camera on the back. I can remember paying $700 for a 10mp hand held.

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

I understand what he's saying about the circle button being to the right an everything BUT I've always taken photos with the circle button on the bottom an when I upload pics to my Facebook, Instagram an Craigslist their not upside down or anything?? A couple times I posted pics on here mine were sideways..... I have iPhone 4S. I guess I gotta hold my iPhone sideways to take pics to post on here??

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

I found a fix for this once I tried it a few times it works. This works if you post pics straight from your phone. Before you select the picture you want to upload, go to the picture on your iphone and select edit. Then go to the bottom left icon which will flip it. Only flip it 180 degrees then hit save. Then hit edit again and flip it 180 degrees again to the normal way it was to begin with then hit save again. Then when you post it will be right side up.

Calvin is probably correct about the top vs bottom orientation of the circle button. I was just assuming on that one. I rarely if ever take vertical pictures but I know that the left vs. right orientation "quirk" is well documented.

As far as the other suggestion about flipping the image with the picture editing tools on the iphone, yep that would work but I don't know an easy way of knowing which images need to be roatated and which ones don't prior to uploading.

I prefer to force my brain to use the device the way it wants to be used and save my self the rotation steps.

Re: Why are my pictures flipping over uplaoded

Yeah, exactly. That's the "ify" ...as in which photo do I flip 180 save and do it again. Because as you know ..you shoot a horizontal one and flip your phone up it turns to view it as you took it. The uploading is where Im at not knowing which photo will upload incorrectly. hmm a though came to mind...... Normally I just hook my phone to my laptop and pull the photos off, where that could be to much for the image. Where as a thought: next time i'll just see if I can upload them to my laptop from the phone with no cord. ....hmm.....not telling. lol
