Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

What about trying it with some double faced tape first. If you don't like it then yank it back off. If it looks good to you figure a way to put it on for good.

Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

Have someone cut a vinyl bow tie for you. See if you have the same feelings and like the look before drilling in a nice expensive grill. Personally I wouldn't.

Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

I installed a newer bowtie on my 72. It kind of goes with the LS powertrain.

Gold Bow Tie I like for that personal touch.

"not sure if I would like it either ...was just looking for something different"

It may end up looking much better than everyone has responded. Doesn't hurt to think outside the box. It is your truck.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

I think you should try it...with a sticker first. If my mind wasn't saying "cheap imitation" when I see a repop grille with nothing on it,I'd say they look really nice just plain and smooth. People go around shaving this and shaving that and here you have a grille already shaved. I think a cool idea that would get a lot of comments would be to have letters made exactly like original only reversed. You know, like an ambulance,so it reads "CHEVROLET" in the mirror

Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

I've often wondered what the center bar from a 57 Chevy car would look like attached to the center of my 69 grille. The 57 center bars are kinda expensive new, so its hard to justify buying one just to find that it doesn't look right.

Wink Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

Why not get a few idea's U like and post them with a good front 1/4 view of the truck and have it photoshoped with each of them come back and have a vote on it.
My personal thought is the Chevorlet script in the grille will not look right at all. This is if U just stick it on there.

Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

The Chevrolet letters from a 68 truck hood mounted on the 69/70 grille central crossbar is another idea.

Re: bowtie on a 70 grill

There are vinyl letters out there that the correct size and font of the original stamped letters that look good once installed. It looks very original until you get right up on it.
