NO Reverse Lights (1973 Custom Deluxe 454)

I've never had reverse lights on my truck so I got a wild hair and pulled the tail light covers and there were no reverse light bulbs just empty sockets! Thinking my problem was the LACK OF reverse bulbs I replaced them but still no reverse lights! My truck will start in gear and my fuse is good so now I'm thinking the problem is the Neutral Safety Switch, is there any way to test it or should I just replace it?

as far as i know it either works or it doesn't, I would just replace it. But hell backup lights aren't that important haha

You said it'll start in gear? NSS is more than likely bad. It shouldn't be able to crank in anything but park or neutral.

Switch is cheap, believe I carried a spare in the old K-20.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.
