A mess.. sheetmetal nightmare

Hi everyone
So I ripped off these replacement panels on my 51 AD which were put over the original floors and of course found a mess. Some of it I expected and some I did not. My issue is that the rust extended into the kickpanel area. I am trying to figure out what it SHOULD look like. Does anyone have pictures of the inside of the cab, no floor or maybe just before a replacement floor panel is put in? I am trying to see, specifically the passenger side, what it should look like in the area where the rocker ends, floor support and the kick panel. Is there a replacement sheet metal piece that can be purchased for this area? It is not even the kick panel I am having issues with but behind it..the part that is seen when you take fender off. Will try to get a picture.

When welding in the floor pan, is there a best way to do this? Should it be a perfect fit or ok to overlap just a bit with seam sealer? Looking for advice on this.

thanks!

You can get them from most vendors. Here are just a few sources:
http://www.classicparts.com/

https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/

http://www.brotherstrucks.com/

You can also find panels on Ebay.

I'd think that almost all of the purveyors of AD truck parts stock that panel. They also should have the inner panel if you need it.

Here is the LMC link. I usually check it to see if a part exists just because it is easy to get around in the catalog on and they show somewhat how the parts go together. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=22

Re: A mess.. sheetmetal nightmare

Take a look at my build page on page 3-5 and there are a few pictures of ours torn apart. I put the front floor, firewall. inner kick panels and the outer cowl panel. I think the outer cowl panel replacement is on page 10. I might have some more pictures if you don't see what you need on those. If you have any questions let me know.

Re: A mess.. sheetmetal nightmare

Thanks everyone. I think my confusion is that when i went inside the cab passenger size, there is a kick panel piece there with a large rectangular opening. But when I go to the outside in the cowl/fender area I believe there was a second piece of metal there with tons of bondo on it. Dumb question but should that kick panel be the only piece there?

Also, does anyone have a pic of what the rocker & supports should look like at the front of the cab and also the rear? This guy made his own and there is rocker rust but I cant tell what it is supposed to look like. Where do the floor supports connect.. to the rocker? Trying to see where these floor supports connect and where rocker should end.

Will try to add some pics of what i have going on.
