99 C1500 Suburban P0420 code
How do I determine which oxygen sensor to replace on this truck? It seems like it has left and right upstream downstream..... Jeez.
Anyway to know which one? Thanks. |

Re: 99 C1500 Suburban P0420 code
All the p0420 or p0430 codes I have ever dealt with have always been bad cat. But 420 would be bank 1, 430 would be bank 2. And you would be looking at down stream for cat monitoring codes.

P0420; low catalyst efficiency bank 1
bank one is the driver's side. Every single time I've seen a 420/430 it has been a bat cat. Aftermarkets only last 2 years at best unless you spend the big bucks for one with plenty of precious metals in it (dealer) find cause for cat going bad before throwing $600/cat at the truck. also watch the bank 2 sensors to see how far that one is from dying.
