Unhappy Light Switch Blowing the Fuse??? HELP!!!

Ok this is crazzzy!!! Just today out of the blue my light switch started blowing the fuse on the back of it. I spent about an hour tracing it down to the wire that powers up the dash lights is the problem... Every time i hooked it up it would blow the fuse. So my question is has anyone ever had this happen or know where to go from here to find the root of the problem?
Thanks guys.......

Did you also check your tail light wires? Most trucks that I have worked on the dash and tail lights run on the same circuit.

You didn't say what truck. Does the light come on with the doors or just when you turn it on? On my dome light the terminals are very close to the cab metal. Make sure its not grounding out there. I would check the power wire to the light to see if its shorted to ground somewhere.

I don't think so, if your blowing a fuse your probably shorting to ground somewhere.

Re: Light Switch Blowing the Fuse??? HELP!!!

Well I couldn't sleep tonight without figuring it out... so come to find out the little light bulb that lights up the key switch was missing the bulb and the wire was grounding out on the side and touching the side of the metal dash!!! Go figure...
No I can rest! Lol. Thanks guys...

Simple things that will drive you crazy.

Normally one of two things will cause a fuse to blow. A short circuit such as the lead to the missing bulb shorting out or something with a higher amperage draw than the fuse supplying it. That could be high power head lights or something like a heater motor that is worn and dragging and drawing too many amps to turn it.
