'59 Gmc Hood emblem

Bad news, When I went for a ride in my pasture.I hit a bump and the Hood Emblem came off and got ran over.I am a loss for words, beyond mad.I hope it can be fixed (welded or whatever)

Wasn't too bright on my part, going to see if I can get it fixed

It has a lot of senti mental value, that is why I want to fix it so bad

Re: '59 Gmc Hood emblem

You could probably put masking tape on the front side, mix up some two part epoxy, apply to back side, remove the tape which kept the epoxy from oozing through to the front, re-install. I'm not familiar with the 59's trim, is this held on with pal-nuts? If so, just don't over-tighten or it will break again.

Re: '59 Gmc Hood emblem

JB Weld, with a little thin reinforcing in the recess on the back is worth a try. Very good welder could possibly braze it, but a lot of times the pot metal just melts away under heat. Sounds like first order of business is to take some time to check nuts and bolts for tightness to see what else the PO did not tighten down like cab, bed, fenders, mounts, etc.

Re: '59 Gmc Hood emblem

It just tore me to pieces to see what happened to it, *sigh*. I actually have some Strong JB Weld some where that I bought for my '71, I will see what I can do

I'll need to get new Bed Fender bolts, the Frame to fender things aren't in place.I just parked it up in my barn because I was so damn pissed off at what had happened.Getting some money for Christmas and if I can get enough I'll just save up to get some important Patch panels
