1972 Sierra Grande doors
I have a 1972 Sierra Grande that I am slowly getting ready for paint. Both the doors have rust and damage on the outside. I have a chance to get a pair of doors to replace my original doors. Unfortunately I don't do body work. I wanted to know your experience about paying someone to do the body work to fix the original doors versus swapping to new doors. The good news is there is no rust in the replacement doors and they are complete as seen in the pictures, and they are real 1972 doors. They also don't have the dreaded speaker holes. They also have lots of parts I don't need so I could sell some to recoup my cash. Here are the doors I am looking at:

Re: 1972 Sierra Grande doors
This is what my current doors look like. Both sides have rust in the front lower side of the door and body work as well. Insides are actually fine. I am sure someone has done this swap. Does anyone have an idea of a fair price for the two replacement doors? I am thinking anything less than $200 for the pair would be a bargain.

If those replacement doors are nice, easily a 300 dollar set. Id try to get them as cheap as you can though

Re: 1972 Sierra Grande doors
I would buy the doors and use unless the seller wants way to much I'd pay $500 for a good pair of loaded rust/damage free doors. Look how much repro "door shells" cost

Re: 1972 Sierra Grande doors
Those doors are complete. You're doors aren't horrible, someone would pick those up to repair, and the door panels look nice on the new doors, so I would figure selling your doors for $100, $75-100 for the door panels off the new doors, maybe a little bit on the wing windows and door guts, and even if you have to pay $400 for those doors you could make at least half your money back.
I would absolutely buy those, and as above, I'd be willing to go to $500 on them, they are complete. So are you gloating about your great find? Because I would have bought them already

Re: 1972 Sierra Grande doors
Well no, not gloating. As you mention my original doors aren't horrible. It is just the decision whether to pay someone to repair the old doors or buy the new doors. I guess ultimately it comes down to how much I am going to have to pay for the new doors.

Re: 1972 Sierra Grande doors
I was in exactly the same boat. Unless you're brother-in-law or best friend does body work, you're going to pay bundle to have your existing doors repaired. I found a pair of very nearly perfect '72 doors on CL last fall for $200.
Guy I bought them from did body work at his house. He told me he was doing a retoration on a '72 shortbed about 10 years before. The truck owner dropped off the doors and some other parts then he never saw him again.
