05 Parts truck for my 64 GMC
I'm looking at getting a wrecked 2005 Chevy for a parts truck.
Wondering if anyone has used he brake set up off of one? {With updated axles/brakes of course?} I know the engine & trans & rear end will be used. |

Re: 05 Parts truck for my 64 GMC
I AM NOT SO SURE ABOUT THE REAR AXLE, IT MIGHT BE EASIER TO REBUILD THE STOCK REAR END SINCE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ADAPT THE REAR SUSPENSION........THE VORTEX ENGINE, TRANS COMBO WILL BE GREAT BUT AS FAR AS USING THE FRONT END i HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANYONE USING THAT YEAR. AS FAR AS I KNOW 75-87 PICKUPS AND 75 TO 91 BURBS ARE THE ONLY BOLT IN FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS.......GOOD LUCK.....KIETH

Re: 05 Parts truck for my 64 GMC
I believe the newer trucks rears are considerably wider ( where the leafs mount) than our c10's, can someone confirm that?

I will measure it out, I can move the pads if needed. I'll let you know.

Aside from the spring pads and shock mounts, that differential will be 5.5" wider than an original '60 to early '70 12 bolt. As for the front suspension and differential, that would be a major job installing that IFS under a '60-'66 4x4.

Good to know on the rear end, I mainly bought the truck for the engine & trans. I'm curious to see how the seats line up though. I have an 03 that needs a few parts so for me it will be a good deal. I'm going to make another 4 wheel drive. |

This one was built for UFC fighter Matt Hughes By 2 Brothers Custom Trucks on a 2006 frame.
