1966 Chevrolet C-10 Propane fueled CL find (not mine)

So surfing Craigslist this wonderful Christmas morning while stuck on duty on my ship and came across this C-10 for sale. I've never seen one that was fueled by propane before, thought I'd share with y'all an oddity and maybe get some feedback on one of these kinds of trucks.

Perrty neat D Rock! But it isn't stock. It is an add on system. I'll say it gets great mileage but is sure gonna be gutless! LOL! Propane it a nice clean burn and offers good economy but takes away like 50+ horse power!

Well I kinda figured that, I've never seen the 60-66 Chevy/GMC trucks fueled by propane before, mainly International Harvester's Trucks had that. Just seemed neat cause it's not seen often, lol.

Yeah I agree it is perrty neat. Friend of mine has a propane powered bus. Guess it gets 8.1 mph instead of 8.0 now.

My dad had a 66 on propane and with his experience, I will respectfully disagree with yall.

When propane was cheap, it was worth the cost of the conversion, his came with it so he just made sure it was safe.

When the price of propane reached ( i think it was $1.00 a gallon) it made it not worth it, here in Texas, you have to have it inspected yearly, also the mileage was about 2/3rds what gasoline would get you, and as TJ said, pretty gutless.

I would not turn away a good deal on one so equipped but I certainly wouldn't convert one now.

Yeah I completely agree with the mileage! LOL! Got a friend of mine who uses propane. At least it keeps your spark plugs clean!

TJ, my dad and I replaced the valve covers on his 66 with a 283, it was squeaky clean and when I took a peak in the spark plug hole it was like it was new, that truck had been well taken care of and by the looks of the fittings and propane system it could have been on there for a long time. unfortunately my dad sold it.

Yeah, I'll agree with ya both on that. It keeps the engine clean and well preserved so it looks untouched, lol.
