Wondering
What does it take to put a new Navigation radio out of a new Chevy truck into one of ours. Not in the dash but in a center console. I know it would have to be made to mount it solid but what about getting the radio programed to work by the vin #. Is this that hard to do? Could I give them say my vin# off my 08 Tahoe are the wifes 11 treverse?
I have a friend who has a brand new one he just took out of a 2013 truck and said if I wanted it I could have it. It's brand new maybe 3 weeks old. If I could get it to work it maybe worth building a new center console to mount it to. Anybody done this are have thoughts on it?

Re: Wondering
To my knowledge there isn't a way to disable the anti-theft feature. The radio has to "see" the vin info from the truck. Also, the radio doesn't turn on with a traditional 12v ignition source, it is controlled with a lan-bus data system.

Re: Wondering
You could probably make it work if you salvaged the entire system from the new vehicle. I can't imagine it would be easy though.

Re: Wondering
In the long run it would probably be cheaper to get an aftermarket gps in dash unit than to make that one work.

Re: Wondering
x2 I picked up a kenwood (ddx419) off ebay for under 200.00. Bluetooth, dvd/cd,pandora,etc. The Bluetooth is nice since its a new law in Illinois today for cell phone use in vehicles. You can also link gps from your phone. I had the same idea for head unit since my son had one from 2013 Silverado, it was way too involved for me to figure out.

Re: Wondering
This is what I thought. I guess if I build a center console I'll go with a aftermarket setup thanks guy's.
