The 70's and 80's fad trucks
Hey guys this is for the older people on the forum, back in the 70's and 80's. I wanna know names of trucks that had cool names I have seen iv seen a truck up maine named pumping iron, blue with pin stripping with a blue bug deflector with the name "pumping iron" another truck is my 1990 k5 blazer. It's black with light blue and purple pin stripping this truck has a coustom lovered hood with the name "Big baby" on the black tail gate all my friends laugh but I dig it. Another truck I saw ANSI with I had saved it but it was to far gone was a 1984 chevy custom deluxe 4wd half ton. This truck was cool I saved the hood and bug guard befor it got crushed. It was blue with silver and red pinstripes down the side had cab lights Lund visor racer back not the bolt on cab one the bed bolted one. Had a snap on tonno cover had mid 70s bucket seats in it was one sweet rig. Any ways share the rigs you have had or seen.

Re: The 70's and 80's fad trucks
I had this '78 Scottsdale Camper Special 454/4spd back then. It had a wood bed floor. I painted the tool boxes to match and had it all pinstriped. I had diamond plate aluminum bent for the tops of the tool boxes, which matched the running boards and full tailgate protector. I was never a fan of running boards, but they served a couple practical purposes on that truck. One: To step up and tie load on rack. Two: To keep mud off the sides driving on construction sites. I didn't name the truck or put a bug catcher on it,though.
First picture was right after I bought it. First thing I did was put the chrome step bumper on. Second was once I had it set up to work out of:

Re: The 70's and 80's fad trucks
They came in 16 and 16.5s. Mine were 16.5. They came on a lot of motorhomes, too. I still have them but they have dents. I have a picture somewhere of that truck next to a brand new black '85 Silverado/30 11' Reading utility bed and both trucks have the wheel covers

Re: The 70's and 80's fad trucks
A guy down the street quite a few years ago had a big Ford with a blue bug deflector named Blue Thunder, couldn't quite get it, Thunder?, maybe Blue lightening would have worked better.

Re: The 70's and 80's fad trucks
This is the fad back in the 70/80's that I remember and got me to buy my 83 Silverado, seemed like stepsides, lowered and with wire rims were the thing then, loved the look but wires were really expensive back in the day, wasn't into stepsides as I think Fleetsides are a lot cleaner looking, dropped my truck a week after I bought it and ran 10" ENKIES all around. This truck is a perfect example, lowered, wires and clean.

That stepper with the wires still looks good today.
